The city of Prijedor is located in the center of the temperate zone, in the northwestern region of Bosnia. Therefore, it can be said that the general climatic characteristics of Prijedor’s territory are largely influenced by large-scale atmospheric circulation patterns.
Most of Prijedor’s territory is characterized by a moderately continental climate, while the northeastern part experiences a sub-mountainous moderately continental climate. Summers are warm (with an average monthly temperature in July exceeding 22°C in the lowland areas) and moderately humid, while winters are cold (with an average monthly air temperature in January above 0°C in the lowland areas). Autumn and spring have generally similar temperatures. Approximately 200 days of warm season, when the temperature is under 12°C. The average number of sunny days per year is 90.
